Cleaning Ganga without cleaning Yamuna makes no sense, Yamuna dumps all the waste it collects in it's way into Ganga at Allahabad. The city that is responsible for polluting both Yamuna & Ganga most, is Delhi and the industrial areas that surround it. It makes sense to start the cleaning from Delhi and industrial areas surrounding Delhi.

I think one of the biggest challenge is the religious sentiments. If I want to offer my prayer to Ganga, I would buy some flower and just let if flow in water, never thinking on what happens afterwards, what if only one flower dropped in the river. If govt tries to take some measures then it hurts my so called religious sentiments. In all this I forget that I have also contributed in damaging the pride of Ganga. Isn't this an "ill sentiment". Mere understanding solves half of the problem.
